Governing rules for grading, evaluation, attendance, credits and the award of degrees at IIIT Pune.
Grading system
IIITP follows a 10-point relative grading scale. Grades are awarded on the basis of overall performance in continuous and end-semester assessments.

Attendance
A minimum of 75% attendance in each course is required to be permitted to appear in the end-semester examination. Medical and approved leaves are handled by the Academic Office under the standing attendance policy.
Credit requirements
- · B.Tech — approximately 160 credits over 8 semesters.
- · M.Tech — approximately 64 credits over 4 semesters, including dissertation.
- · PhD — minimum 12 credits of coursework + comprehensive + thesis.
Evaluation
Each course typically follows: 30% continuous assessment (quizzes, assignments, projects) · 30% mid-semester examination · 40% end-semester examination. Variants are at the discretion of the course instructor, subject to Senate approval.
Academic integrity
IIITP enforces a zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism, examination misconduct and unauthorised collaboration. Penalties range from F-grade and probation to suspension and rustication, per the Senate-approved academic integrity policy.
