How the Institute is governed

IIIT Pune operates under the IIIT (PPP) Act 2017. Three statutory bodies — the Society, the Board of Governors and the Senate — shape its direction and standards.

IIITP Society

The apex body of the Institute. The Society holds overall responsibility for the affairs of IIITP, approves strategic direction, and elects/appoints members of the Board of Governors.

Board of Governors

The principal executive body of the Institute. The Board of Governors (BoG) is responsible for general superintendence, direction and control of IIITP's affairs — including academic, administrative and financial matters.

Senate

The supreme academic body of the Institute. The Senate has the right and responsibility to decide all academic matters — including the design and conduct of programmes, regulations, examinations and the award of degrees.

Standing Committees

Specialised committees support the BoG and Senate: the Finance Committee, Building & Works Committee, Academic Appeals Committee, Library Committee, Anti-Ragging Committee, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), SC/ST Cell, Grievance Redressal Committee and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
